About me

David Dorf

I began doing electronics projects since middle school and found my passion in designing, programming, and building robots. I received my MS in Robotics degree from Northwestern University, where I was a part of teams that made a Franka Emika arm make hot chocolate, built a robot arm using SEAs inspired by Robonaut2, and worked out the controls for the mobile KUKA youBot from scratch. I've worked at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, creating mobile hd-EMG exoskeleton systems for stroke rehabilitation patients. As for personal projects, I've been designing robotic/prosthetic hands and contributing to ROS 2 with my own packages. Outside of robotics, I had my own small tattoo and surfboard art shop, led a rock band, and enjoy doing MMA.
